Spotlight

Spotlight search for your Chrome new tab.

A keyboard-first command palette with instant answers for currencies, markets and gold, plus quick web, image, video and map search.

Spotlight brings the macOS habit of press a key, type, done to Chrome. Open it with Ctrl+K from any new tab and start typing; answers appear as you type, and the keyboard does the rest.

Instant answers

  • Currency: “100 usd to inr”, “$50 in rupees”, “1.5k eur → gbp”, “2 lakh inr to aed”.
  • Indices: “nifty”, “sensex”, “bank nifty”, “india vix”.
  • Gold & silver: “gold rate”, “22k gold”, “sovereign rate”, “silver price”.
  • Stocks: “reliance share price”, “infosys stock”, “TCS.NS”.

How it works

  1. Press Ctrl+K (or ⌘K)

Spotlight opens over your new tab, ready to type.

  2. Ask for an answer

Type a conversion like “100 usd to inr”, an index like “nifty”, or “22k gold”. The answer card appears at the top instantly.

  3. Act on it

Press Enter to copy a conversion or open the Markets app on a symbol; Ctrl+Enter sends a currency pair to the widget or a stock to your watchlist.

Matching happens on your device. Rate and market answers are fetched when your query asks for them, a web search opens Google, and the Maps tab shows Google Maps for your query.
